How to Share Files Between PCs, Smartphones and Tablets

How to Share Files Between PCs, Smartphones and Tablets

How to Share Files Between PCs, Smartphones and Tablets

When it comes to sharing files these days, it’s no longer just about sharing between computers. Now your friend with an Android phone might want some videos you took from your iPhone or you may want to copy a bunch of pictures from a Windows PC to your iPad.
In this article, I hope to give you as complete a guide to sharing across devices as possible. It’s going to be long, so feel free to skip down to the section that applies to you. The sections will be broken down into sharing between computers, sharing between computers and mobile devices, and sharing between mobile devices only.
When it comes to sharing files between computers, you can break it down into two types: local sharing or remote sharing. If you need to copy some files to another computer on your local network, it will be much faster because you’ll either be using Ethernet or Wi-Fi to perform the transfer.
This is the best way to transfer a large amount of data to another computer quickly. When copying files outside of your LAN (local area network), you are limited by your Internet speed. If you have Verizon FIOS with a 75 Mbps upload/download connection (which I have now), then transferring large amounts of data to a remote computer will also be fast.
However, if you’re stuck with AT&T and have a miserable 1.5 Mbps upload speed (which I had in the past), it’ll take a long time to upload a few gigabytes of data. Let’s first talk about local data transfers.

Create a Personal Website Quickly using Google Sites

Create a Personal Website Quickly using Google Sites

Ever wanted to quickly create a webpage for your neighborhood book club or sports team? Or maybe a personal page that you can share with your friends and family for a specific event like a wedding or birthday party?
If you do a Google search, you’ll get hundreds of listings on creating web pages instantly using templates, etc, but you normally have to spend a little bit of money. Those sites will get you a pretty looking site and it’ll probably be really customizable, but sometimes you just need to create something super simple, you don’t care what it looks like and you don’t want to spend a cent.
Google Sites can solve that problem for you because all you need is a Google account! Google Sites has been around for a long time, but it’s not terribly well known. The main reason is that Google only markets it to Google Apps for Work users, but it can be used by anyone. Here is an example website that I create with Google Sites in just the last 45 minutes to write this article.
Create a Personal Website Quickly using Google Sites
Create a Personal Website Quickly using Google Sites
As you can see, it’s a really simple webpage with a bunch of widgets added in two columns. It’s nothing fancy, but it gets the job done for a small family website. Also, if you do know a bit of coding and are tech-savvy, you can make the site look much more professional. For Google Apps users, you get 10 GB of space, but for non-app users, you get only 100 MB, so it’s really meant to be a small site.
By default, the site will have a URL starting with sites.google.com, but you can easily use a custom domain name if you have already bought one or purchase one using Google Domains or any other domain registrar.
To get started, go to sites.google.com and click on the Create button to create your first web site.
create-a-site1
To start off, you can pick from a couple of templates like sports team, classroom site, wedding, etc. Make sure to click on the Browse the gallery for more link because there are many more templates broken down into categories like activities & events, business collaboration, schools & education, clubs & organizations, etc.
Give your site a name and then customize the end of the URL if you like. By default, it’ll just be sites/google.com/site/sitename. You can change it to something else, but it has to be unique amongst all the Google Sites created in the world. If you chose a blank template, you can select a theme also. Click the I’m not a robot button and then click Create at the top.
You’ll now be brought to the home page for your new site. The important section is at the top where you can edit the current page, create a new page and adjust the settings for the page and the site.
google-sites-home

The first thing I would suggest doing is to click on the gear icon and then click on the Manage site link at the bottom

Here you can configure a bunch of options like the site name, site description, the landing page, etc. You can also setup a site notice, which will pop up a message for all visitors of the website. If you want, you can configure Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools here also. At the bottom, there is an option to make the site responsive by adjusting it for mobile phones.
site setting

On the left side, you can also see recent site activity, all your pages, attachments that you upload, page templates you can use, apps scripts, sharing and permissions and themes/colors/fonts. The last section lets you add a header image and change the font, color and size for the text in various sections of the site like content area, sidebar, navigation, etc.
theme-color-fonts.jpg
Once you have configured the site settings, it’s time to make sure you pick the layout you want for the entire site. To do that, go back to your homepage and then click on the gear icon again. This time click on Edit site layout.
edit-site-layout
It’s really easy to change the layout of the site. By default, Header and Sidebar are selected and enabled. If you want to remove or add a section, just click on the appropriate button at the top. When you have the sections you want, you can then hover your mouse over the section to edit it. You can also choose a custom site width if you like. For example, when you click on the header, you’ll get all the header options you can configure.
site-header-configure

You can click on the sidebar to choose whether you want it on the right or left side of the site and adjust the width. You can click on the footer to choose what links you want there, etc. If you choose to add a custom footer, you can insert images, tables, etc. For my example page shown above, I got rid of the sidebar and the header.
After these two items have been completed, it’s time to start editing and creating pages. Before we get into that, there is one more concept to understand. In Google Sites, you can create four types of pages: Web Page, Announcements, File Cabinet and List. The home page is set to web page as default.
An Announcements page is a blog page with posts listed in chronological order. A File Cabinet page lets you upload files and will list them on the page. A List page allows you to create a list of items and displays them in table format. You can change the template for a page anytime by clicking on the gear icon while on the page and choose Change page template.
Now go back to your home page and click on the little pencil icon at the top to edit the page. You’ll see a new menu across the top of the page.
In my example page, I chose Two column (simple). Now you can start adding stuff to your page! To add a table, click on the Table menu item and choose the size of your table in terms of rows and columns. To insert anything else, click on the Insert menu option.
insert-items-page

You can only add those to a page if you have already created an Announcements page, File Cabinet page and List page, respectively. In my example page shown at the top, those three items are added in the second column. When working with text, you can click on the Format tab to pick different heading styles, etc.
formatting-tab
Lastly, you can create a new page by clicking on the Create Page button that is directly to the left of the Settings button.
create-page
Give you page a name, choose a page template and then choose the location of your page. You can create a top level page or put it under a different page.
Well, those are the basics for creating a simple webpage or website with Google Sites. It’s nothing to write home about, but it’s very easy to use and learn. It’s also completely free, which is nice. If you have any questions, feel free to post a comment. Enjoy!

Testing mobile G-Sync with the Asus G751JY: Boutique gaming’s killer feature?

Testing mobile G-Sync with the Asus G751JY: Boutique gaming’s killer feature?
Testing mobile G-Sync with the Asus G751JY: Boutique gaming’s killer feature?

Last January, we previewed how mobile G-Sync might perform on an Asus G751JY laptop that wasn’t fully certified for the feature but supported it well enough to give us a taste of what G-Sync could deliver. Today, we’re revisiting the topic, armed with a fully certified Asus G751JY-DB72. This system is nearly identical to the G751JY that we tested earlier this year, but with a handful of upgrades. Specifically, the G751JY-DB72 uses a Core i7-4720HQ CPU, 24GB of DDR3, a 256GB SSD, and a backup 1TB HDD for conventional mass storage. The system still uses a GTX 980M (4GB of RAM) and a 1,920-by-1,080, 17.3-inch screen.
G-Sync with the Asus G751JY

At $1999 from Asus, it’s not a cheap laptop, but it’s one of the nicest and best-balanced systems I’ve ever tested. Because mobile G-Sync is a big enough feature to warrant its own treatment, we’re going to discuss the laptop’s performance and capabilities in a separate piece. For now, it’s enough to say that this is one of the best boutique laptops I’ve ever tested, even if the base model debuted a year ago.
How mobile G-Sync works
How mobile G-Sync works

Mobile and desktop G-Sync accomplish the same goal, but they achieve it in different ways. Nvidia’s desktop G-Sync displays rely on a separate, Nvidia-built scaler unit. This scaler controls the monitor’s timing and synchronizes the display’s output with the video card. In 2013, when Nvidia debuted G-Sync, its custom scaler technology was the only way to achieve this kind of synchronization in a desktop display. That’s since changed with the launch of the VESA-backed Adaptive Sync standard (AMD calls its own implementation FreeSync). Laptops, however, don’t require custom scaler hardware — the ability to synchronize refresh rates is part of the embedded DisplayPort specification that both AMD and Nvidia use.
As the name implies, variable overdrive allows the display to decrease pixel ghosting by anticipating what color a pixel may need to be on the next refresh cycle and adjusting voltage accordingly. Nvidia has noted that this could result in a slight decrease in color accuracy in some conditions, but the net result should still be improved color reproduction.
G-Sync: A Goldilocks solution:
Now that we’ve covered the basics of how mobile G-Sync works, let’s talk about its specific implementation in the Asus G751JY. This laptop uses a 75Hz panel, which is important to know, because it specifies the maximum refresh speed at which G-Sync can operate. If you have a 75Hz panel and your game is kicking out a steady 200 FPS, G-Sync disables automatically and the game will switch to either V-Sync on or off. By default, NV switches to V-Sync on, since this is much less jarring then the sudden appearance of tearing, but if you prefer to disable V-Sync when the frame rate exceeds 75 FPS, you can specify that at the control panel.
This might seem less-then ideal, since gamers are typically taught to prefer high frame rates, but the relative advantage of faster FPS is subject to diminishing marginal returns. The higher the frame rate, the less visible a missed frame is.
If the frame rate falls below a certain level, however, G-Sync can run into another problem. While it doesn’t shut off due to low FPS, the GPU will automatically interpolate and insert multiple frames to smooth playback. If performance is relatively steady, this is an excellent way to smooth the game without impacting playability. If the frame rate is changing significantly from moment to moment, however, some frames will end up repeated and some will not.
PC Perspective wrote an excellent report on how FreeSync and G-Sync handle low frame rates. The graph below shows how G-Sync inserts additional frames, boosting the refresh rate as a result.
As the frame rate fluctuates, the number of frames G-Sync injects to smooth presentation can vary as well. While the end result can still be superior to not having G-Sync on at all, a variable frame rate below ~35 FPS doesn’t produce the buttery smoothness that Adaptive Sync and G-Sync provide at higher refresh rates.
This ideal window is why we call G-Sync (and Adaptive Sync) a Goldilocks solution. Both technologies work best when your frame rate is neither too high nor too low. In this case, users should target an average consistent frame rate between 40 and 60 FPS.

Watch New Star Wars Battlefront PS4 Trailer

PlayStation has unveiled a new live-action trailer for the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront on its YouTube channel. The video features a battle taking place on Hoth, with TIE Fighters and AT-AT walkers making appearances. While the trailer does have a disclaimer stating that the footage shown is "not actual gameplay," there are some neat special effects employed, as well as a throwback to long-time loyal Star Wars fans. You can watch the video below.
Publisher EA recently announced that Star Wars Battlefront will be getting four expansion packs that players can purchase via the game's $50 DLC pass. The announcement came with news that three new multiplayer modes will be introduced in Star Wars Battlefront; Hero Hunt, Droid Run, and Cargo. If you wish to jump into online multiplayer though, be prepared to use an external chat program to communicate with friends, as the game will not offer native in-game chat.
Star Wars Battlefront is being developed for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It is scheduled for release on November 17 in North America, and November 19 in Australia and Europe. Developer DICE has confirmed that the game will not have support for private matches at launch, although it has not completely ruled out implementing the feature in future.

LG started launching Android 6.0 ,Marshmallow G4 next week

LG started launching Android 6.0 ,Marshmallow G4  next week

Phone manufacturers are already gearing up to update their devices to the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, as we detailed earlier, but it seems like LG G4 might be the first outside the Nexus lineup to actually receive Google’s latest. LG announced that it will start rolling out the update beginning next week, and that Poland would be the first stop on the list, with other regions such as the US, Asia, and Europe to follow, though LG has not revealed any schedule for it yet. It is a common practice among manufacturers to roll out the update to a limited-size region first, to check for any issues before a worldwide release.

LG started launching Android 6.0 ,Marshmallow G4  next week
The update will just not be limited to the G4, though; LG has plans to extend it to other smartphones under its wings too. These devices would be the V10, G Flex 2, G3, and G2. LG is expected to release an official schedule for the update roll-out soon. “While speed alone isn’t an indicator of great service, it does go a long way toward giving consumers the confidence that LG is committed to its existing customers first,” LG mobile communication head Chris Yie said in a statement.

At the time of Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade, LG followed the similar strategy of rolling out the update in Poland first. However, it then took months to finally bring it to users in the US. Even so, it is good to see that at least some Android manufacturers are taking advantage of the Developer Preview to speed up an otherwise lengthy upgrade process.
-
The Marshmallow update will bring along lots of good features, such as enhanced app control and permissions, battery life improvements (thanks to the ‘Doze’ mode), fingerprint support, and mobile payments. Select Nexus devices have already received the update, which has brought in the much-awaited ’Now on Tap’ feature to the platform. The new feature is a revamped version of the Google Now. Talking about Now on Tap, Google’s Vice President of Android Product Management Brian Rakowski said in a blog post, “[it] stays on task alongside you, instantly pulling up relevant info and helping you get more done.”

Other manufacturers, including Sony, Motorola, and HTC, have also announced the Marshmallow update for their own devices, although no one has announced any set timeline for the roll-out. It is not always the case that LG takes the lead in rolling out updates timely, but it’s worth noting it did so at the time of Android 5.0 Lollipop update, too. So who’s next? After LG’s announcement, we are hoping — nay, expecting — other manufacturers to cough up some news too.

Darius & Fiora duel key to win

Darius & Fiora duel key to win

After several players from multiple regions insisted that this year there was no team as unstoppable as the 2014 World Champion Samsung White, SKTelecom T1 has looked like a team with very few weaknesses. A few hiccups notwithstanding, SKT toppled ahq e-Sports Club 3-0 in the Quarterfinals to maintain their undefeated Worlds 2015 record.
ahq's AD carry Chun-an "AN" Chou had been among the most successful players in the entire tournament through the Group Stage, and SKT had no interest in giving over his favored Jinx in their Quarterfinals match. "Yes of course there are more strategically smart bans," says SKT coach Jung-gyun "kkOma" Kim with a smile. "But considering we want to move to Semis and Finals, we think it's enough at this point to do denial bans and that'll be enough to perform."
And without the comfort pick for AN, it was mostly smooth sailing for SKT. ahq was able to get ahead in Game 3 with Shu-wei "Westdoor" Liu's Fizz solo killing Sang-hyeok "Faker" Lee's Kassadin twice early, and several team outplays in the mid game. But otherwise, ahq were unable to get many advantages throughout the series. "Faker pretty much died to Westdoor one-on-one in lane…that made the game a bit slower than the others," kkOma says. "But I think it's totally expected and understandable. Players are human beings, not machines. They can't always perform at 100%."

The Grand Challenge
 The Grand Challenge

Faker commented in his stage interview on the matchup as well. "I think Westdoor was very strong and it was very hard to play against him."
"We weren't communicating as well, like when someone had to cover mid really fast, we weren't able to do that, and some of those things snowballed a little bit," SKT top laner Gyeong-hwan "MaRin" Jang added. "They became things we had to make up for."
In the end though, kkOma had an easy verdict for why his team was able to come back in the game: "SKT has better teamwork than ahq."
EUphoria is Real

kkOma and SKT now look ahead to Origen, who will have the monumental task of trying to bring down the last remaining undefeated team at Worlds 2015. But MaRin and kkOma don't think of themselves as unbeatable at all.
"I always think that we can lose any time, to any opponent," MaRin says. "We don't think we're invincible. Even in Game 3, if ahq didn't make some of the mistakes they did, they might have won easily. So I am always really aware that anything can happen at any time, and that's how we play. That's our style."
Given that, we wanted to know how SKT thinks they match up against the veteran team of Origen. "I think experience is crucial," kkOma says. "The more experience you have in esports, the more you can quickly understand what's going on, you're more perceptive, you have much more insight, and in that regard, it can be a huge strength to me, and it'll apply to the Origen matchup."
"Origen is really good at managing the game overall -- knowing when to do what and moving as a team," MaRin says. "Whereas SKT has stronger laning."
I guess that's one way of putting it. "Yes, Samsung White was a really great team last year, but think of 2013: SKT won every single match in LCK [Winter], won the World Championship, but you know what -- we're here now. This is what matters now. What matters to me is how we're playing now, what matters to me is how the players are doing right now, and it's meaningless to compare with the past because it doesn't really matter or help us at all. We're really just focused on the now and meeting our goals."
The next obstacle from SKT meeting that goal will be Origen, when they compete next week in the Worlds 2015 Semifinals Saturday October 24, 2015 at 16:30 European Time or 7:30 AM Pacific Time.
Make sure to catch the third Quarterfinal match Saturday when Edward Gaming takes on Fnatic at 14:00 British Time or 15:00 European Time or 6:00 AM Pacific Time.

Welcome to Smart-Glasses We are proud to provide information and resources about smart glasses and smart technology. We hope you find the information provided here useful as we continue to explore new emerging technology.
1)google smart glass

Once the realm of science fiction movies, computer technology has moved to glasses, and multiple companies are making plans for this emerging mobile peripheral wireless market. The first smart glasses are projected to be available in the summer to fall of 2012 with other companies potentially releasing their versions by the end of 2012. Smart glasses will incorporate a bright high-definition display, adjustable for outdoor use on the glass lens so that the images appear as if they were in the exterior world. They will also have Internet connectivity and multiple new applications. Some of the displayed images will have a holographic quality to them, depending upon the smart glass manufacturer, making the image appear as if it were real and in front of the smart glasses

2)leap motion
The Leap Motion controller is a small USB peripheral device which is designed to be placed on a physical desktop, facing upward. Using two monochromatic IR cameras and three infrared LEDs, the device observes a roughly hemispherical area, to a distance of about 1 meter (3 feet). The LEDs generate a 3D pattern of dots of IR light[14] and the cameras generate almost 300 frames per second of reflected data, which is then sent through a USB cable to the host computer, where it is analyzed by the Leap Motion controller software using "complex math" in a way that has not been disclosed by the company, in some way synthesizing 3D position data by comparing the 2D frames generated by the two cameras.
leap motion

The smaller observation area and higher resolution of the device differentiates the product from the Kinect, which is more suitable for whole-body tracking in a space the size of a living room.[17] In a demonstration to CNET, The Leap was shown to perform tasks such as navigating a website, using pinch-to-zoom gestures on maps, high-precision drawing, and manipulating complex 3D data visualizations.[17] Leap Motion CEO Michael Buckwald told CNET:
Leap Motion initially distributed thousands of units to developers who are interested in creating applications for the device. The Leap Motion controller was first shipped in July, 2013

3)3D printing
3D printing or Additive manufacturing[1] is a process of making a three-dimensional solid object of virtually any shape from a digital model. 3D printing is achieved using an additive process, where successive layers of material are laid down in different shapes.[2] 3D printing is also considered distinct from traditional machining techniques, which mostly rely on the removal of material by methods such as cutting or drilling (subtractive processes).
3D printing

A 3D printer is a limited type of industrial robot that is capable of carrying out an additive process under computer control.
While 3D printing technology has been around since the 1980s, it was not until the early 2010s that the printers became widely available commercially.[3] The first working 3D printer was created in 1984 by Chuck Hull of 3D Systems Corp.[4] Since the start of the 21st century there has been a large growth in the sales of these machines, and their price has dropped substantially.[5] According to Wohlers Associates, a consultancy, the market for 3D printers and services was worth $2.2 billion worldwide in 2012, up 29% from 2011.[6]
The 3D printing technology is used for both prototyping and distributed manufacturing with applications in architecture, construction (AEC), industrial design, automotive, aerospace, military,
